AISECT partners with the Assam Skill Development Mission to provide Employment through Skill Training & Placement

Guwahati, December 9, 2020: AISECT, which is India’s leading Social Enterprise working in the area of skill development, has partnered with the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) to provide Employment through Skill Training & Placement (EST&P). The training will be conducted across the IT/ITeS sector in Bokakhat for the job role of Domestic Data Entry Operator. Training will also be conducted across Electronics and Hardware sector for the job role of Field Technician Computing and Peripherals (FTCP). The shortlisted candidates will receive the training free of cost.

Set to commence in November 2020, the training programme will be spread over three months and is expected to be completed by March 2021. A total of 120 candidates, 60 each for both the centres, will undergo skills training under this programme wherein 340 hours of training will be provided to each trainee. Further, ASDM and the Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission (ASULM) will evaluate, monitor and manage the scheme.

Talking about the partnership, AISECT’s Executive Vice President Mr Siddharth Chaturvedi said, “We are looking forward to this partnership with ASDM with the aim of expanding AISECT’s skilling and training initiatives in Assam as well as other states in the North-Eastern parts of India. Leveraging our decades of experience in delivering quality skills training to people in the marginalized regions of more than 20 states, we expect to empower the students of Assam and prepare them for future jobs. Though initially the training will be offered in one sector, we aim to expand our training initiatives to other sectors as well and support the students of this region get better skills training for a wider range of job roles in the future.”

To be eligible for the programme, the candidates should have a minimum education qualification of 10th pass (based on the job role). Post the completion of the training programme, AISECT will organize Rojgar Melas to help the aspirants with job placements by connecting them to prospective employers. Apart from this initiative, AISECT has been empanelled with ASDM and executing training programmes through two centres. Launched in 1985, AISECT works in semi-urban and rural parts of the country to empower people through Skill Development, Higher Education, Financial Inclusion, e-Governance and other ICT-based services. It is spearheading numerous skill development initiatives of the Central and State Governments like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra, DeenDayal Upadhyaya-GrameenKaushalyaYojana, National Skills Qualification Framework,National Urban Livelihood Mission, State Skill Development Missions, etc. Till date, the organization has successfully trained over 20 lakh people in the small town, district, block and panchayat level areas across India.
