Make in India – Bangalore and Hyderabad can be the next Silicon Valley

Researchers and academics from a host of Indian and French institutions on Wednesday felt India could have a hi-tech manufacturing hub on the Hyderabad-Bangalore stretch that could one day be compared to USA’s Silicon Valley.

At a workshop to identify potential research projects in Digital Manufacturing and Prototyping , founder-director of Mahindra École Centrale College of Engineering, Sanjay G. Dhande said ‘Make in India’ would be a success if the share of the manufacturing as a contributor to the economy rose to 25 per cent.

The three-day workshop, organised by MEC along with Centrale Supelec, Paris, discussed possible collaborations between India and France. It featured researchers from Institut d’Optique, CSIR, Sterlite, Carborundum Universal and Tata Steel and academics from IIT-Delhi, Bombay, Hyderabad, Centrale Supelec and MEC.
