Campaign
Over 1,000 students and staff of MVJ College of Engineering (MVJCE) took part in a four-km rally recently as part of an anti-tobacco campaign.
The aim was to educate the people in and around Whitefield as a part of their social awareness programme. It was flagged off by Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader.
Training
A technical training programme on ‘Fundamentals of GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing’ was inaugurated at the Department of Geography and Geoinformatics, Bangalore University. Teachers and research scholars from all over India participated.
The main aim of the workshop was to equip teachers and research scholars to teach technical subjects such as GIS, remote sensing and GPS at the undergraduate level and take up research activities using these technologies in their respective fields.
Foundation Day
Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship celebrated its 24th Foundation Day. The chief guest was Narayan Ramachandran, Chairman, Inklude Labs Pvt. Ltd. The event started with the ‘Best speaker’ competition – a debate on the topic “India’s demographic dividend could turn out to be a demographic disaster.”
Utsav
The 15th annual VTU youth fest “Utsav” was held on the campus of Visvesvaraya Technologicial University (VTU), Belagavi.
The cultural extravaganza saw the participation of over 3,000 students from 130 engineering colleges affiliated to VTU.
Events were spread over four days. M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, was crowned the champions for the academic year 2014-15.
