450 students congregate for Reflektionz, the largest Intercollegiate Optometry Cultural Fest

Bangalore, October 26, 2023: Sankara College of Optometry hosted ‘Reflektionz’, a National Intercollegiate Cultural Festival at the Sankara Eye Hospital Campus and 450 students from optometry colleges across Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh & Tamilnadu participated in the festival.

Themed ‘Wonderland’, to rekindle the joy of imagination among the participants, the 10th Year of Reflektionz, through the 2-day event provided 450 students with a platform to showcase their talent through 19 literary, cultural and performing arts events across 4 stages.

Imagine a movie with no visuals? Mr. Binoy Karmen, Director of the movie “Blindfold” who looks to release early next year India’s first-ever audio film that takes the audience through the first-person perspective of a visually impaired person was invited as the showstopper. “Success is not all about the degrees you gain, but it’s about finding your passion and working towards it.”.

Professor Aditya Goyal, Principal, Sankara College of Optometry said, “We are overwhelmed by the response to the event as students from different states have added much-needed vibrancy. We hope this edition has reignited the pride of being Indian and enhances harmony and brotherhood. This intercollegiate optometry festival provided a real-life learning platform to our students who were involved from planning to execution.”

At the inaugural of the festival Ms. Jaya Bhavya, executive council member of CII Young Indians, shared, “It is Important for students to participate in extracurricular activities which will help build their confidence and career. I appreciate the variety of cultural events planned, which bring out the creative energy in the students.”

The valedictory function had Ms. Lavanya, a storyteller, who shared her personal journey of overcoming the grief of her father’s death during COVID and looking to enhance awareness on eye donation. She pledged her eyes and encouraged the students to become ambassadors for organ donation. She handed over the rolling trophy to Nethradhama School of Optometry, Bangalore as the perfect curtain downer for the event.
