Heart attacks are often associated with well-known risk factors like high cholesterol, hypertension, and smoking. However, there are several lesser-known contributors that can silently increase the risk of heart diseases. These hidden factors often go unnoticed, making it crucial to spread awareness regarding them.

1.      Chronic Inflammation – Chronic inflammation can result in swollen blood vessels which can in turn make them prone to plaque build-up and rupture. Various gut issues, poor diet, smoking as well as any unresolved infections can also lead to chronic inflammation. People with high C-Reactive Protein (CRP) also have a higher chance of suffering from heart attacks.

2.      Insulin Resistance – Excessive sugar damages the blood vessels, increasing bad cholesterol and inflammation. Hence, practicing relaxing activities like listening to music, reading a book or meditating can help one achieve peaceful sleep. 

4.      Micronutrient Deficiencies – Micronutrient deficiencies lead to many cardiovascular diseases, including heart failures, arrhythmias and ischemic heart disease. Magnesium deficiency leads to irregular heartbeats and vessel spams, while Omega-3 deficiency increases inflammation and blood clot risk. It is important to regularly check nutrient levels as well as optimize the diet to accommodate every type of nutrient, vitamins and minerals in the meal. 

5.      Chronic Stress – Stress floods the system with cortisol, damaging arteries and spiking blood pressure. Long-term stress can weaken the immune system, making it harder for the body to repair any cardiovascular damage. Under chronic stress, the body natural “fight or flight” response also increases the heart rate, putting strain on the heart. Therefore, it is always advised to take vacations, practice de-stressing activities as well as maintain a work-life balance.

Your heart health isn’t just about cholesterol or blood pressure—hidden factors like inflammation, hormone imbalances, and stress markers play a massive role too. Ignoring these can silently increase your risk of a heart attack.
