98.28 percent pass ICSE, Girls outshine Boys

NEW DELHI: Girls have once again outperformed boys in this year’s ICSE Class X examinations, the results of which were declared today.

In all, 98.79 per cent of girls and 97.88 per cent of boys cleared the Indian Certificate for Secondary Education (ICSE) examination. The pass percentage last year was 98.78 per cent for girls and 97.73 per cent for boys.

Shreyas Sudhaman from Kumaran Public School, Bangalore; Apoorva Narayanswamy from St Paul’s English School, Bangalore; Siddhartha Shankar Kahali from Little Flower School, Jamshedpur, and Rishabh Raj from St Paul’s School, Rourkela are the toppers across the country with a score of 98.60 per cent.

Abbhjinamya Nowbagh from Jalpaiguri and Pratik Pujari of Calcutta were joint second with 98.20 per cent marks.


Giving a region-wise break-up of the pass percentage, Arathoon said that the southern part of the country had achieved the best showing with a 99.59 per cent pass rate.

The western region secured a pass percentage of 99.41 per cent while the performance of Delhi-NCR was 99.65 per cent.

Girls performed better than boys in Delhi-NCR, with 99.83 per cent of them clearing the exam. The pass percentage for boys stood at 99.50 per cent.

Riya Singh of Holy Angels School, Sahibabad, and Sajal Gupta of St Paul’s Academy, Ghaziabad, topped in the region with 97.80 per cent.

Mayank Singh Chauhan of Holy Angels School, Sahibabad, stood second with 97.6 per cent.
