IIM Bangalore Report Highlights Positive Impact of Smart Classrooms in Smart Cities

Bangalore, 27/12/2024 – A recent report by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) has revealed a positive impact of smart classrooms on education in Indian smart cities. The study, conducted under the SAAR (Smart Cities & Academia towards Action & Research) initiative, found that 71 smart cities have developed 9,433 smart classrooms in 2,398 government schools, benefiting thousands of students.  

Key Findings:

  • Increased Enrollment: The report indicates a 22% increase in student enrollment in 19 cities where smart classrooms have been implemented. This suggests that these innovative learning spaces are attracting more students to government schools.  
  • Improved Learning Outcomes: While the report did not explicitly measure academic performance, the introduction of technology-enabled learning environments is expected to enhance student engagement and improve overall learning outcomes.
