The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced significant updates for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2025. In an effort to curb seat-blocking scams and simplify the application process, KEA will soon launch a dedicated mobile application for KCET1. This move aims to make the application and counseling process more accessible, especially for candidates from rural areas.

Key Updates for KCET 2025

• Mobile Application: The new mobile app will allow candidates to fill out their application forms directly from their mobile phones, eliminating the need to visit cyber centers. This will also enhance security by reducing the chances of login credentials being misused1.
• One-Time Registration Portal: KEA has introduced a ‘One-Time Registration’ portal for recruitment exams, allowing candidates to register once and use the same registration number for future exams.
• Computer-Based Testing (CBT): Discussions are underway to implement computer-based testing for recruitment exams to enhance transparency. Initially, exams with fewer candidates will adopt the CBT system, with plans to expand it in the future2.
• CET Guidance Manual: KEA has released a ‘CET Guidance Manual,’ a 12-page booklet containing information about KCET 2025. This manual will be distributed to PUC students in government, government-aided, Navodaya, and Kendriya Vidyalayas2.

Additional Measures

• Enhanced Security: The new system will have robust security measures to prevent malpractices.
• Separate Divisions: The government is considering establishing separate divisions for admissions and recruitment to ease the operational load of KEA.
• Dedicated Server: Plans are in place to install a dedicated server for KEA to manage both the admission and recruitment processes more efficiently.

M.C. Sudhakar, Minister for Higher Education, emphasized the importance of maintaining the trust of the public and ensuring that KEA staff do not yield to any enticements. He also mentioned that the state government has appealed to the Union government to consider class 12 marks in addition to NEET scores for medical admissions1.

These updates are expected to streamline the KCET application process and make it more user-friendly for candidates. With these enhancements, KEA aims to provide a fair and transparent examination process for all aspirants.
