New Delhi, July 5, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the schedule and guidelines for the Supplementary Practical Examinations for Class 10 and Class 12, set to take place from July 10 to July 15, 2025. Educators designed these exams for students who need to clear or improve their practical component scores from the main board examinations conducted earlier this year.
CBSE has scheduled the supplementary practical exams exclusively for students it categorized as Repeat in Practical (RP) or Repeat in Both (RB) based on their main exam results. It will conduct these exams alongside the Supplementary Theory Examinations, with Class 10 theory exams running from July 15 to July 22, 2025, and the Class 12 theory exam on July 15, 2025.
Key Guidelines for Students
CBSE has issued detailed instructions to ensure a smooth examination process. Students appearing for the practical exams are required to:
- Report by July 7, 2025: Candidates must contact their respective schools or designated examination centers by July 7, bringing a printed copy of their admit card, mark sheet, and results. Schools will notify students of the exact date and time of their practical exams.
- Examination authorities strictly prohibit electronic devices in examination centers and may take disciplinary action against violators.
- Upload Marks Promptly: CBSE Board instructs schools and centers to upload practical exam marks to its portal on the same day, without permitting any changes after submission.
Exam Details
- Class 10 and 12 Practical Exams: These will be held at students’ respective schools for regular candidates. Private candidates must coordinate with the principal of their theory exam center to confirm the date and time of their practical exams before the theory exams conclude.
- Theory Exam Schedule: The Class 10 supplementary theory exams will span from July 15 to July 22, covering subjects like Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence on the first day. Class 12 supplementary theory exams will be conducted in a single day on July 15, covering subjects such as English Elective, Hindi Elective, History, Political Science, Geography, Hindustani Music, Painting, and Yoga. Exams are scheduled from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with some vocational and elective subjects concluding at 12:30 PM.
Preparation and Admit Cards
CBSE advises students to prepare diligently, as these exams offer a critical opportunity to improve scores or clear failed subjects without losing an academic year. The syllabus for the supplementary exams remains the same as the regular board exams. Admit cards for the supplementary exams are expected to be released by July 11, 2025, and can be downloaded from the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in.
Additional Information
The board will award pro-rata internal marks to students who were absent during the internal assessment in the main exams, basing the marks on their performance in the supplementary theory exams without conducting a new internal evaluation. It has also emphasized that the supplementary exams cover only 19 subjects, and students can access the detailed date sheet and guidelines on cbse.gov.in.
