As the world struggles to keep the operations running during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, AISECT Group, which is India’s leading social enterprise imparting ICT and skills based education and services in semi-urban and rural areas, has strategically implemented technology led learning and operations initiatives so as to enable the process of knowledge dissemination to continue smoothly even during the times of a global crisis.
Explaining about the initiative, Mr. Siddharth Chaturvedi, the Executive Vice President of AISECT Group, said, “Removal of barriers in the access to learning has always been AISECT’s prime focus. Today, physical presence poses as a barrier and as a means of supporting the learning process while practicing social distancing, AISECT Group has launched a series of initiatives that focus exclusively on online learning so that students can effectively access e-resources for education, training as well as skill development.”
As a means of encouraging participation in the initiatives in large numbers, an ‘Online Training Video Contest’ has been announced that involves cash prizes along with a chance to get featured on AISECT’s YouTube Channel. All centre owners and faculty members associated with over 20,000 AISECT centres are eligible to take part in this contest wherein 15-20 minute long videos are to be submitted. The videos can impart training on a variety of subjects including IT, Electronics, Banking, Retail, English Speaking, Interpersonal Skills, Motivation Tips and the like. The last date for the submission of videos is 10th April. A similar contest for students will also be announced by the Group in the near future.
Along with the contest, AISECT is promoting online learning through AISECTOnline.com wherein anyone can access 600 Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs), free of cost. In addition to that, around 20-30 courses of AISECT Academies will now be available online for the students who are enrolled for various AISECT programs.
For more than 3 decades, AISECT has been working towards conceptualizing innovative services and intervention plans to help bridge the ICT, skills, education and services gaps in semi-urban and rural parts of India. Established in 1985, the organization has over 20,000 multipurpose kiosks covering 517 Districts, 1500 Blocks, and 7669 Panchayats across the country.
