The first round of AISECT Kaushal Championship 2019 to be held on 8th August across the 20,000 AISECT Centres
AISECT, which is India’s leading Social Enterprise in the area of skill development, has opened registrations for the AISECT Kaushal Championship 2019, whose first round will be held on 8th August. The initial round of the Championship, which aims to recognize skilled individuals at the grassroot level areas of the country, will be held at over 20,000 AISECT Centres located at small town, district, block and panchayat level areas across 29 States and 3 Union Territories of India.
The Championship will aim to seek skills champions across 10 job roles, including Domestic Data Entry Operator, Assistant Electrician, Field Technician & Computer Peripherals, Self-Employed Tailor/Sewing Machine Operator, Manual Metal Arc Welding/Welding & Quality Technician, Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra), Auto-Service Technician, Assistant Beauty Therapist, Plumber General and Mason.
To be eligible for the competition, candidates need to be 18 to 35 years old and should have experience in any of the above mentioned job roles or should have obtained training in the above job roles. The registration for the competition is free of charge for the participants.
Talking about the AISECT Kaushal Championship 2019, Mr Siddharth Chaturvedi, Executive Vice President, AISECT, said, “While the Indian Government has been focused on skilling the Indian workforce through various initiatives under its Skill India Mission, there is still a large population residing in the rural areas that is unaware of the benefits of skills training in regards to better employment opportunities. Through Kaushal Championship 2019, we are not only focusing on raising awareness around skilling but also providing a platform for skilled individuals to showcase their talents by recognizing them at a national level. Last year, we were able to mobilize more than 5,000 candidates across 8 Indian states. This year, we hope to expand that number and reach an even wider audience with the view of recognizing their skills and lending support in terms of upskilling and placement.”
The competition will be held in three stages – Centre Level, State Level and National Level – with increasing level of difficulty. In the Centre Level that will be held on 8th August, participants will appear for tests at their nearest AISECT Centre. At this level, top 3 performers across every trade will be selected who will then proceed to the State Level Competition. Thereafter, top 3 performers across every trade from different states will then compete against each other in the grand finale of the AISECT Kaushal Championship 2019 to be held at the Rabindranath Tagore University in Bhopal on 6th September.
Every test will last for 45 minutes and the assessments will be provided by the AISECT Head Office. The winners of the State and National Level competition will be awarded a certificate of appreciation along with exciting prizes like laptops, tablets, smartphones and speakers, among others. All the participants will also be provided a certificate of participation.
AISECT Kaushal Championship, inaugurated last year, is the latest in a series of skill development initiatives that have been taken by AISECT over the last three decades for the empowerment of people residing in semi-urban and rural parts of India. In partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the organization has setup 12 vocational training academies that offer over 150 low cost, high quality University certified undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate and diploma courses in various subject areas. Till date, 4,18,740 candidates have enrolled in these academies, 3,63,710 candidates have been trained, 1,54,048 have been successfully placed and 23,720 candidates have been up-skilled nationally.
Moreover, AISECT is successfully executing a number of skill development projects of the Central and State Governments, including Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) and National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
