AISECT partners with the Centre for microFinance (CmF) and Tata Trusts for the ‘Mission Gaurav- Migrant Support’ programme to secure benefits to 30,000 migrant families in Jaipur district

Jaipur, December 13, 2020: AISECT, which is India’s leading Social Enterprise working in the area of skill development, financial inclusion, e-Governance and other ICT-based services to bring about an inclusive change in the semi-urban and rural areas of the country, has partnered with the Centre for microFinance (CmF) and Tata Trusts for the ‘Mission Gaurav-Migrant Support’ programme to offer benefits to 30,000 migrant families in Jaipur district.

‘Mission Gaurav-Migrant Support’ project aims to deliver two or more services with monetary benefit of INR 1000-6000, through State/Central Government schemes and special assistance package, to 3,95,000 vulnerable migrant families of Rajasthan who have suffered during COVID-19 pandemic due to loss of livelihoods or otherwise. The programme also targets to provide immediate support to vulnerable families and ensure that these families are able to sustain the loss of wage and employment by engaging in local economic opportunities along with food security.

Of the total target, AISECT has been entrusted with the responsibility of securing benefits to 30,000 migrant families in Jaipur district over a period of six months. To achieve this target, AISECT has established a Migrant Resource Centre named as ‘Apna Sewa Kendra (ASK)’ in Jaipur, which will provide awareness, counselling, application support, legal help, regular follow-up and more. The organization has also hired a team of ShramikMitras (a trained resource at panchayat level) to work on labour, migrant issues and labour distribution issues. Moreover, special awareness campaigns and road shows will be conducted during the course of the project to build awareness amongst the general public in all the blocks of Jaipur.

Talking about the partnership, AISECT’s Executive Vice President Mr Siddharth Chaturvedi said, “The migrant workers and their families are the among the most affected sections of the society due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Rajasthan is one of the top three suppliers of migrants in the country. We are looking forward to this partnership with the Centre for microFinance and Tata Trusts, who share our goal of facilitating sustainable development opportunities and empowering the vulnerable communities of the country. Under this alliance, we intend to provide benefits to 30,000 migrant families in Jaipur whose livelihood was completely shattered by the pandemic. This programme is critical in building back the lives of those who lost their jobs and had to return to their native places.”

Under this programme, the beneficiaries should belong from migrant families or vulnerable families or daily wage labour families. Apart from monetary benefits, AISECT will try to connect eligible workers with industries under the apprenticeship and skill development schemes, to help the vulnerable groups cope with the situation. The team of ShamikMitras hired by the organization will also provide doorstep facilitations, awareness and scheme applications.

The programme bears a financial assistance from Titan along with the Tata Trusts.
