The Bar Council of India (BCI) officially announced on October 26, 2025, that the validity of All India Bar Examination (AIBE) results will be extended until March 31, 2026. The move comes as a major relief for many law graduates across the country, especially in Karnataka, who have struggled with delays in enrollment due to pending administrative processes.
Over the past few months, several law graduates and institutions in Karnataka raised concerns about extended waiting periods for bar enrollment. Many candidates who had already cleared the AIBE faced the possibility of their results expiring before they could formally register to practice. The BCI’s extension now ensures that these graduates can complete their enrollment without losing their eligibility.
The BCI acknowledged that the delay stemmed from verification and administrative backlogs at state bar councils. By extending the validity period, the council aims to prevent any disruption in career progression for fresh law graduates seeking to join the legal profession.
Officials from the BCI clarified that this is a one-time extension meant to address current enrollment delays. The announcement does not affect upcoming AIBE schedules or future result validity norms, which will continue as per the existing framework.
Law colleges and student associations across Karnataka welcomed the decision, describing it as a timely intervention that will help maintain professional continuity. Many institutions are now coordinating with state bar councils to ensure that pending enrollment cases are processed quickly under the extended validity period.
