In a bid to spread positivity, joy and cheer during the lockdown, students of Canadian International School (CIS) collaborated digitally to celebrate this year’s Onam in a unique way. As a multicultural school with students and faculty from over 40 different nationalities, the CIS community enjoys getting together to celebrate all festivals. Teachers along with the students and their parents dressed in all their Onam finery to conduct the festivities of the day. The students also shared the joy of Onam Sadya with their teachers and classmates and entertained everyone with various folk songs related to the festival.
“This year’s Onam celebration will always be memorable for me. I had never thought that I will be able to celebrate Onam this year with my CIS family. However, by collaborating online with my fellow mates and teachers, I was able to celebrate the festival with zest” said Justine, CIS student.
“At CIS we have always celebrated different cultures and festivals, showcasing it as a true multicultural school. It is important to embrace the diversity that we have at our school. With students and faculty from over 40 nationalities, our students have the unique opportunity to learn about various cultures that helps them grow and evolve as global citizens. It is our privilege to continue the tradition at CIS, and organise Onam celebrations this year also. All students and parents were proactive and wholeheartedly took part in the festivities of the day.” said Ms. Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, Canadian International School.
