CBSE Issues Key Directives Ahead of Class 10 and 12 Board Examinations 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a set of important directives for schools and students ahead of the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations 2026, which begin on 17 February 2026. The Board has emphasized strict adherence to reporting time, examination discipline, and newly introduced evaluation practices.

Students Must Reach Exam Centres by 10 AM

CBSE has instructed that all candidates must report to their allotted examination centres by 10:00 AM without exception.
Entry gates will close strictly at the prescribed time, and late entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.

The Board clarified that this measure aims to:

  • Ensure smooth verification and seating procedures
  • Avoid last-minute disturbances
  • Maintain uniformity across examination centres nationwide

Students have been advised to factor in traffic, weather conditions, and security checks while planning their travel.

Webcasts and Webinars Held for School Authorities

On 13 February 2026, CBSE conducted a series of webcasts and webinars for school principals, exam coordinators, and centre superintendents to prepare them for the upcoming examinations.

These online sessions focused on:

  • Revised examination protocols
  • Centre management and student movement
  • Handling emergencies and discipline-related issues

Officials highlighted the need for schools to strictly follow operational guidelines to ensure fair and transparent conduct of exams.

Briefing on New Exam Patterns

During the webinars, CBSE provided detailed explanations on new exam patterns being implemented for the 2026 board examinations.

Key points discussed included:

  • Balanced distribution of competency-based and analytical questions
  • Alignment with the National Education Policy’s learning outcomes
  • Reduction in rote-learning focused questions

Schools were asked to orient students about these changes to reduce anxiety and confusion.

Digital and On-Screen Evaluation to Be Expanded

CBSE also briefed schools on its move toward digital and on-screen evaluation systems, aimed at speeding up result processing and improving transparency.

The Board stated that:

  • More answer scripts will be assessed through digital platforms
  • Teachers will receive technical training for on-screen marking
  • Data security and accuracy checks will be strictly monitored

This shift is part of CBSE’s long-term plan to modernize the evaluation process.

Strict Discipline Norms at Examination Centres

CBSE reiterated that examination centres will follow zero-tolerance discipline policies.

Students are prohibited from carrying:

  • Mobile phones and smart devices
  • Smart watches and Bluetooth gadgets
  • Any written material or electronic notes

Centres have been directed to conduct frisking and surveillance using CCTV cameras where available.

Advisory to Students and Parents

The Board urged students to:

  • Reach centres well before the reporting time
  • Carry valid admit cards and school ID
  • Follow instructions issued by invigilators

Parents were requested to support students by ensuring punctuality and avoiding crowding outside examination centres.

Ensuring Smooth Conduct of Board Exams 2026

With these directives and preparatory sessions, CBSE aims to ensure that the Class 10 and 12 Board Examinations 2026 are conducted in a fair, disciplined, and technologically supported environment. The Board has called on schools, students, and parents to cooperate fully for the smooth execution of the examination process.
