What is COMEDK UGET?

COMEDK Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) is a state-level online entrance exam conducted for admission to:

  • B.E./B.Tech programs in over 150 private engineering colleges in Karnataka
  • MBBS and BDS programs in around 20+ private medical and dental colleges

It is one of the most sought-after private college entrance exams in South India, especially for students who miss out on top ranks in JEE Main or NEET but still want quality education in Karnataka.

Who Can Apply?

  • For Engineering (B.Tech): Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (minimum 45% aggregate; 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates of Karnataka)
  • For Medical/Dental (MBBS/BDS): Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology + NEET-UG qualification is mandatory (COMEDK only facilitates seat matrix and counselling for private quota seats)

Important: From 2025 onwards, NEET qualification is compulsory even for private medical seats through COMEDK.

Reservation Policy

COMEDK follows Karnataka state reservation guidelines for candidates belonging to the state:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 3%
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): As per state sub-categories
  • Hyderabad-Karnataka Region (Article 371(j)): Additional quota
  • Minority (Linguistic & Religious): Seats reserved in respective minority institutions

Non-Karnataka students can apply but will be considered only under the General Merit (open quota) category.

Why COMEDK Still Matters in 2026

  1. Direct access to top private colleges like RV College of Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, and many more.
  2. Relatively easier than JEE Main for students targeting Karnataka private seats.
  3. Transparent online counselling and seat allotment process.
  4. Over 20,000 engineering seats and 2,000+ medical/dental seats up for grabs.

Preparation Tips for COMEDK UGET 2026

  • Start early – the syllabus is exactly the same as Class 11 & 12 Karnataka PU / CBSE / ISC.
  • Focus equally on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (200 marks each, total 600 marks, 3-hour exam).
  • Practice previous 10 years’ COMEDK papers + mock tests (the difficulty level is moderate, speed and accuracy matter more than extreme depth).
  • For medical aspirants: Clear NEET first, then use COMEDK counselling for private quota seats.
