The inclusion of tech in education has made the learning more interesting, exciting, and flexible. This reflects in research findings too, proving that synchronizing electronic devices can significantly improve student diversions, make teaching more dynamic, and students more proactive by encouraging participation, learning from industry experts via live examples & collaboration with peers. The following are some of the key emerging technological trends in education that if implemented well, could empower India’s 600 million youth and equip them to take on the world.

  1. A more engaged environment with a personalized education experience – technology helps encourage active participation in the classroom. Digital learning enables learners to progress at their own pace, making academic content readily available at any time and any place. Individualized learning through technology gives students control over their learning experience. Digitized learning incorporated individualized research and video content that allows students to learn freely and at a speed that suits them best.
  1. Instant access to quality education at the comfort of your home – The age old practice of scouring through textbooks in search of answers to simple questions, is cumbersome & limiting. With the availability of well-researched & vetted academic content, students can access information instantly on an edtech platform based on a subscription model or accessing free/paid content rather than using up valuable lesson time searching for it elsewhere.
  1. Improves collaboration and facilitates learning from peers – Technology can enable geographically agnostic collaboration. Studies on the effects of technology and communication prove that students are more inclined to work cooperatively when it comes to classroom interaction, helping their peers learn and create. Technology has made it possible for students to connect across countries, impacting the quality of learning and facilitating 21st century skills.
  1. Empowers students to be future-ready – the incorporation of technology in the classroom supports educators as they teach new technological concepts, as well as professionals looking to develop skills and knowledge.
  1. Incorporates various learning styles – Every learner is different and technology integration makes it easier for teachers to customize learning material, resulting in a more efficient and effective learning process.
  1. Benefits teachers – technology enables teachers to capture the students’ learning journey, track their progress and take remedial action.
  1. Real-time feedback – Tech facilitates the exchange of feedback, personalized advice, & direction in real-time. Institutional technology provides better capabilities for gathering or providing feedback compared with more traditional methods. Assessments are also easier and faster to conduct with the help of technology.

Technology has emerged as the new backbone of the education sector, and its rise will lead to a reshaping of formal education in its current form. Tech may also make quality education more accessible to learners from all kinds of backgrounds.

To stay in the running, successful educators have certainly reimagined their models of teaching entirely and now incorporate technological advancements for optimum delivery of education with edtech being the new normal. Edtech is emerging as the mainstream of education and this demand will continue even after the pandemic, keeping flexibility in mind to access quality content at the learner’s convenience.
