The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026) is set to commence from February 7 and continue until February 15, conducted in multiple sessions across examination centres nationwide. The prestigious national-level entrance examination will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for candidates appearing in various engineering and science papers.
Thousands of aspirants are expected to participate in the examination, which plays a key role in admissions to postgraduate programmes and recruitment in public sector undertakings.
GATE 2026 will be conducted for several disciplines, with exams scheduled over different days and shifts to accommodate candidates from diverse academic backgrounds. Each day will have morning and afternoon sessions, ensuring smooth management of large candidate volumes.
The CBT format allows for standardized evaluation and faster processing of results while maintaining transparency in assessment.
Candidates must carry their GATE 2026 admit card to the examination centre. The admit card contains essential details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, exam date, shift timing, and centre address.
Along with the admit card, candidates are required to present a valid government-issued photo identity proof for verification. Entry will not be permitted without both documents.
Examinees have been advised to report to their allotted centres well before the scheduled time to complete verification procedures. Authorities have reiterated that late arrivals may not be allowed entry once the gate closes.
Candidates must strictly follow exam hall guidelines and avoid carrying prohibited items such as electronic gadgets, study material, or personal belongings not permitted under examination rules.
GATE scores are widely used for admission into postgraduate engineering and science programmes at premier institutions across India. In addition, several public sector undertakings consider GATE performance for recruitment to technical positions.
With the examination about to begin, candidates are encouraged to stay calm, follow instructions carefully, and ensure they are fully prepared with the required documents.
Following the conclusion of all test sessions, answer keys and response sheets are expected to be released in the coming weeks. Final results and scorecards will be announced after the evaluation process is completed.
Candidates are advised to regularly check official notifications for updates regarding result declarations and further admission procedures.
