Google announces Mobile Developer Fest to inspire student developers in India

In line with the objective to train two million developers in India on the latest mobile technologies, Google today announces Mobile Developer Fest, a new campus initiative to inspire thousands of young, aspiring technology developers to kickstart their skilling journey with affordable world-class skilling and education programs in India.

During the launch, William Florance, University Relations – Developer Products Group, Google, said, “While India has long maintained its position as a global base of tech talent, there is growing need to invest further in skilling India’s large base of young students who’re keen to learn newer technologies.”

He further added, “Intelligent automation and mobile based solutions are impacting every industry around us. In these changing times, the current scope of learning ecosystem in India can feel limiting for students who’re passionate about learning new technologies and enhance their skills inline with the expectations of the Industry.”

Mobile Developer Fest (MDF) is designed to be a day-long event for computer science and engineering students, offering them an opportunity to attend tech sessions across multiple product areas like Machine Learning, Firebase, Android and Progressive Web Apps. Students can also participate hands-on code labs sessions, and learn directly from Google certified developers. The event will also provide an opportunity for students to become part of Google Developer Student Clubs and University Innovation Fellows.

Starting with Bangalore at The CMR Institute of Technology, Google will hold multiple MDFs in leading engineering colleges across 12 states in India. MDFs are open events and computer science and engineering students are eligible to register.

The learning curve doesn’t end at these events. Students will also have access to:
• Easy, affordable world class skilling and education programmes via Udacity, where we have over 45 free courses.
• Android Developer Fundamentals (ADF) course available in universities across 10 states and online on Google Developer India Youtube channel.
• 300+ free online codelabs available for developers to learn how build apps.
