Bengaluru, January 21, 2026 — Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot today inaugurated the two-day South Zone Vice Chancellors’ Conference–2026 in Bengaluru.
The event is hosted by Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Over 120 Vice Chancellors attended in person, with nearly 100 joining online.
Call for Innovation in Key Areas
In his address, the Governor urged universities to drive innovations in rural development, healthcare, education, environment, and digital inclusion.
He praised Bengaluru as a strong model of academia-industry collaboration in education, science, and technology.
Conference Focus
The theme is “Promoting Entrepreneurship & Startups in Higher Education Institutions”. Discussions aim to boost innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth in universities.
RUAS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Raina said the meet offers a platform to share ideas on curriculum changes and startup support.

The event included AIU President Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, Secretary General Dr. Pankaj Mittal, RUAS Chancellor Dr. M.R. Jayaram, and other academic leaders.
