IIT admission tests to begin from April 6

JAIPUR: The process for admissions to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technologies (IIT) in the country begins. The first leg of the two-stage examination process known as JEE-Main, conducted through both offline and online modes, is scheduled on April 6 and April 9, 11, 12 and 19 respectively.

The offline exam centres are Kota, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur. Online centres include all offline centres along with Alwar, Bharatpur and Sikar. The country has 15 IITs with a total of 9,885 seats.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) says that over 14 lakh students are appearing in the exam including 50,000 from Kota alone. The result of the first leg will come out on May 2. Of the total aspirants, the top 1.5 lakh students of the first leg will be eligible to appear in in JEE-Advanced to be held on May 25 in two shifts for both offline and online modes.
