It’s imperative for women to get tested & treated for Diabetes:

Chennai, March 7, 2022: On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centrehas announced 15% discount on diabetes treatment for women across its centres in India from March 8 – 11, 2022.

Dr. Mohan’s’ theme and message for this Women’s Day is ‘Your Health is Your Power’.

Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman & Chief Diabetologist, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre said, “The prevalence of diabetes among women in India has increased from 5% in the 1990s to 8% in the 2020s, which is very alarming. The occurrence of type 2 diabetes is increasing in Indian women on account of various factors such as ageing, lack of physical activity and obesity due to unhealthy diet. This results in fatty liver and uncontrolled diabetes. This has a negative impact on their well-being and brings down the quality of life. Hence it is imperative for women to get tested and treated for diabetes and keep their diabetes under control.”

Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centres have introduced new approaches to diabetes care and treatment in women.

“Diabetes shouldn’t be a hindrance for our women power to reach greater heights. On the occasion of this Women’s Day and always, my message to women is that their physical and mental health should be their priority, and there should be no compromise when it comes to health. Dr. Mohan’s is with them in their journey towards good health,” saidDr.V. Mohan.

Dr. R. M. Anjana, Managing Director, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre said, “Women in India are discouraged from playing active physical sports and have limited access to any fitness activities due to social taboos. A woman cannot go outside the house after dark, cannot play field sports, cannot join health clubs and does not have time for spending on her own wellbeing. Even clothes used while exercising are an inhibitory factor. This is a nationwide problem stemming from our cultural inhibitions. With the rising numbers of individuals affected by diabetes, it is necessary to devisesocially acceptable methods to make women adopt a healthier lifestyle. Taking these into account, we have combined high-intensity interval training, dance moves and the desi beats of popular Bollywood tunes to create “THANDAV” – a novel exercise in dance form. This can be done even for a short duration to burn maximum calories and also at home. No special clothes or equipment are needed. It can be a group activity and so it is easily accepted by the young too.” She also added, “on a long term basis, we wish to touch the lives of poor people who are in need of quality diabetes care but who cannot afford or access it and ensure that we make a difference in their lives through our service.“
