Karnataka Governor’s Republic Day Speech 2025: Emphasizing Federalism and Welfare

Bengaluru, January 26, 2025 – Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot delivered a poignant Republic Day speech at the Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground, highlighting the state’s commitment to the principles of the Indian Constitution and cooperative federalism.

Governor Gehlot emphasized the importance of upholding the tenets of federalism, stating that Karnataka has always raised its voice whenever these principles were compromised. He reiterated the state’s dedication to the ideals of social and economic justice, as laid down in the Constitution, through various welfare schemes such as ‘Shakti’, ‘Anna Bhagya’, ‘Gruha Jyoti’, ‘Gruha Lakshmi’, and ‘Yuva Nidhi’.

Reflecting on the state’s financial achievements, the Governor noted that Karnataka managed its finances well in 2024-25, with a revenue collection of ₹1,81,908 crores by December 2024, marking a 13% year-on-year growth. He also highlighted Karnataka’s second position in the country in terms of total GST revenue collected.

Governor Gehlot spoke about the ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Bengaluru Metro Rail Phase 2A and 2B projects, which are progressing at an estimated cost of ₹14,788 crores. He also mentioned the state’s achievements in education, healthcare, and technology, recognizing Bengaluru as a global technology hub.

In conclusion, Governor Gehlot called for unity in diversity, resilience of democratic institutions, and unwavering commitment to the values enshrined in the Constitution. He urged the people of Karnataka to uphold the vision of the Constitution makers and contribute to building a strong and prosperous India.
