Karnataka NEET UG 2025 Counselling Begins for Medical, Dental, and AYUSH Courses

Bengaluru, July 8, 2025 – The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially commenced the NEET UG 2025 counselling process for admissions to medical, dental, and AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) courses across government and private colleges in Karnataka. This marks a significant step for thousands of aspirants seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, and other allied health programs in the state.

KEA conducts the counselling process primarily online through its official website (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in) to allocate approximately 10,995 MBBS seats, 3,445 BDS seats, and additional seats for AYUSH courses across Karnataka’s prestigious institutions. KEA oversees 85% of state quota seats and 100% of private college seats, while the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) manages the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats.

Counselling Schedule and Registration

According to recent announcements, KEA has reopened the registration window for NEET UG 2025 counselling. Candidates who previously registered for UGCET-2025 must log in and submit their NEET Roll Number between July 5 (7:00 PM) and July 8 (11:00 AM) to download their UG Verification Slip. Fresh candidates can apply from July 7 (1:00 PM) to July 10 (11:00 AM). NRI candidates are required to attend in-person document verification at KEA Bangalore from July 8 to July 10, based on their NEET rank.

The counselling process includes multiple stages: registration, document verification, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to the allotted college. KEA has already released the provisional state merit list, with 87,909 candidates eligible for admissions, the highest scorer achieving 670 marks. The merit list, based on NEET UG 2025 scores, determines eligibility for state quota seats.

Key Details of the Counselling Process

  • Eligibility: Candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2025 and meet Karnataka’s domicile criteria (e.g., studied Classes 11 and 12 in Karnataka or have parents residing in the state for at least seven years) are eligible for state quota seats. Non-Karnataka candidates must register through the MCC for AIQ seats or through KEA for private college seats.
  • Rounds: The counselling will occur in two main rounds, followed by a mop-up round for vacant seats. A stray vacancy round may also be conducted if necessary.
  • Seat Matrix: KEA will release a category-wise seat matrix for MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses, covering NRI, private, government special category, Hyd-Kar, and general quotas.
  • Fees: The registration fee for Karnataka domicile candidates is approximately ₹750, while non-Karnataka candidates pay ₹2,500, and NRI/OCI/PIO/foreign nationals pay ₹5,000.
  • Document Verification: Candidates must upload scanned copies of their NEET UG admit card, scorecard, domicile certificate (if applicable), category certificate, and other required documents. Non-Karnataka candidates claiming NRI or minority status must attend in-person verification.

Important Updates

KEA has emphasized a transparent and fair admission process, with seat allotment based on NEET scores, state merit rank, candidate preferences, and reservation policies. The authority has also introduced an online system for all rounds, including the stray vacancy round, as mandated by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Candidates are advised to regularly check the KEA website for updates on choice filling, seat allotment results, and reporting deadlines. The provisional allotment result has already been published, and candidates can modify, delete, or reorder their preferences during the specified window.

Guidance for Aspirants

For students navigating the counselling process, experts recommend prioritizing college and course choices carefully during the choice-filling stage. “Candidates should research the colleges, their infrastructure, and past cutoffs to make informed decisions,” said Payal Shrivastav, a NEET counselling expert. Additionally, aspirants are encouraged to use tools like the NEET College Predictor to estimate their chances of securing a seat based on their rank and category.

For AYUSH courses, candidates must register separately through the Ayush Admissions Central Counseling Committee (AACCC) for AIQ seats or through KEA for state quota seats. Non-Karnataka students seeking AYUSH admissions in government colleges must apply via AACCC.

Next Steps

With the registration window closing soon, candidates are urged to complete their applications promptly and ensure all documents are in order. The KEA website will provide detailed schedules for choice filling and seat allotment, expected to commence in August 2025. Aspirants should stay updated through official notifications and trusted sources to avoid missing critical deadlines.

For further details, candidates can visit cetonline.karnataka.gov.in or contact KEA’s helpline for assistance. The NEET UG 2025 counselling process is a gateway to fulfilling medical and AYUSH aspirations in Karnataka, and KEA remains committed to ensuring a smooth and equitable admission experience.
