Major Shift in Evaluation Pattern

In a key reform aimed at reducing academic pressure, the Karnataka government has decided to remove marks for the third language in SSLC (Class 10) examinations and replace them with a grading system ranging from A to D. The change has been implemented by the state’s School Education Department as part of ongoing examination reforms.

Third Language Will Not Affect Final Result

Under the new system, the third language paper will no longer contribute to the overall score of students.

With the removal of marks for the third language, the overall maximum marks for SSLC have been reduced:

• Revised total: 525 marks

The 100 marks earlier allocated to the third language are no longer counted in the aggregate score.

लागू from Ongoing SSLC 2026 Exams

The reform has been लागू (implemented) immediately and applies to the current SSLC 2026 examinations that are already underway.

Students appearing this year will be the first to experience the revised system, marking a significant shift in the evaluation process.
