KCET Round 2 Counselling begins for 2025 Admissions

Bengaluru, August 21, 2025 – The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially commenced the second round of counselling for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2025, offering candidates another opportunity to secure seats in engineering, pharmacy, agriculture, and other professional programs across Karnataka. The option entry process for Round 2 began on August 4, 2025, and is set to conclude on August 14, 2025, according to the official schedule released by KEA.

Key Details of KCET Round 2 Counselling

The KCET Round 2 counselling process is designed for candidates who either did not secure a seat in the first round or wish to upgrade their allotted college or course. The seat matrix for Round 2, detailing available seats for B.Tech and other programs, has been published on the official KEA website, cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. Candidates can modify, reorder, or delete their previous choices and submit fresh preferences during this period.

The counselling process includes:

  • Document Verification: Candidates must have completed document verification to participate. Required documents include the KCET 2025 admit card, mark sheets, and a 7-year study certificate countersigned by the concerned BEO/DDPI.
  • Choice Filling and Locking: Candidates can log in using their CET number to fill in preferred colleges and courses. The deadline for locking choices is August 14, 2025.
  • Seat Allotment: The second mock seat allotment will be announced online, followed by the final Round 2 seat allotment, expected in September 2025. Seats are allotted based on merit, candidate preferences, and availability.

Eligibility for Round 2

Candidates eligible for Round 2 include those who:

  • Qualified for KCET 2025 but did not secure a seat in Round 1.
  • Were allotted a seat in Round 1 but wish to upgrade to a preferred college or course by surrendering their current seat.
  • Missed the choice entry in Round 1, as KEA allows such candidates to participate in Round 2, though they are not considered fresh candidates.

Steps to Complete Option Entry

To participate in the KCET 2025 Round 2 option entry, candidates should follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official KEA website: cetonline.karnataka.gov.in.
  2. Click on the “KCET 2025 Round 2 Option Entry” link.
  3. Log in using your CET number and date of birth.
  4. Review the Round 2 seat matrix to check available seats and programs.
  5. Enter and prioritize your college and course preferences.
  6. Lock your choices and download a printout for future reference.

Important Notes

  • Candidates who secured a seat in Round 1 but did not exercise any choice (freeze, float, or withdraw) have forfeited their Round 1 seat but can participate in Round 2.
  • The final seat allotment for Round 2 is expected in September 2025, with exact dates to be confirmed by KEA. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for updates.
  • Seats remaining vacant after Round 1, including those under special categories like SCG, STG, and rural/Kannada medium quotas, will be filled in Round 2, with some converted to general category seats if necessary.

Strategic Advice for Candidates

KEA recommends that candidates carefully review the seat matrix and strategize their choices to maximize their chances of securing a preferred seat. “Candidates should consult with parents or guardians before locking their preferences, as this is a critical step in the admission process,” said H. Prasanna, Executive Director of KEA. Candidates can also refer to the mock seat allotment results to gauge their chances and adjust preferences accordingly.

For the latest updates and detailed schedules, candidates should visit cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. The KCET 2025 counselling process is a crucial step for students aiming to pursue professional courses in Karnataka, and Round 2 offers a vital opportunity to secure their desired academic path.
