Placement season is set to dawn on the country’s premier law school, the National Law School of India University, and if the pre-
Pre-placement offers are made by companies where students have interned. If satisfied with their work, the companies absorb the students, with or without an interview. This time, the offers have been unprecedentedly good, say students. Fifteen students got placed after their internship with these firms.
Apart from the offer by Deutsche Bank, the other job offers were from some of the most reputed law firms in the country. Amarchand Mangaldas chose six of the eight students who interned with them. Khaithan and Company also made multiple offers. Luthra and Luthra and S and R are also among the law firms that have made offers.
“Not so many get pre-placement offers usually. It depends on market growth and the expansion plans of the firms. Last year, 11 students were placed before Day Zero,” said an NLSIU student. Corporate law firms remain one of the most preferred career tracks for law school students.
The salary package offered ranges between Rs 12 and Rs 17 lakh per annum. The batch that graduates in 2015 consists of 75 students. While around 15 are expected to get into litigation, around 45 might opt for jobs in law firms. A few others are opting for a non-law career, including civil service, entrepreneurship and banking.
Day Zero, which attracts the top firms, is scheduled for April 9. Last year, 25 students were placed on the big day, with offers from seven law firms.
