Mumbai Indians invites 9 underprivileged children to Dubai as part of ‘Education for All’ initiative

Mumbai Indians, under its social cause initiative ‘Education For All’ led by Mrs. Nita M. Ambani have invited nine underprivileged children from various Mumbai based NGOs to Dubai, UAE as part of the experiential tour and to watch the team’s next match against RCB.

The nine children are expected to give a presentation on the NGO’s they represent and interact with their favourite Mumbai Indians players and support staff on Friday, 18th April 2014 here in Dubai. Following day, 19th April the kids will don the Blue & Gold colours and be at the Dubai International Stadium to cheer for their favourite team.

The visit of these kids to Dubai is first step for this season of ‘Education For All’ initiative, and will culminate in dedicating an entire match for the cause, when Mumbai Indians will play its first home match in Wankhede Stadium on 3rd May 2014. Around 18,000 to 20,000 underprivileged children from various NGO’s across the State of Maharashtra are expected to be at the Wankhede stadium to watch the match on 3rd May.

Last year, Mumbai Indians had 11000 such children from the society at the Wankhede on 13th April 2013, when the entire Mumbai had played for the EFA cause – a record which found its mention in the latest Limca Book of Records.

To spread awareness, the management at Mumbai Indians this year have dedicated the shoulder spot (non-leading arm) on team’s jersey to EFA logo, a conscious decision of not retailing the commercial space for any sponsor. For the Mumbai Indians ‘ICON’ Sachin Tendulkar’s jersey, the EFA logo will be spotted on the chest.

Mumbai Indians is one of the first team to recognize the potential of using its worldwide fan base to enhance awareness about a compelling social issue and has found support amongst in fans and its sponsors for the cause. Every Mumbai Indians player and support staff is a passionate believer in this initiative and committed to spread the message of ‘Education For All’.
