PUC Results may be delayed

The second year PU results could be delayed.

Though State Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Rathnakar had announced that results would be out on time, he said on Sunday, “Even in the past, results were announced only after the first week of May.”

He furnished the dates of results of exams held since 1973 to make his point. “I had said May 2 earlier as I did not want the students to panic and wanted to reassure them. We will, however, announce them before the Common Entrance Test results are out,” he said.

However, as per the provisional calendar of events, the results of CET are likely to be announced on May 28 and PUC results must be out before that.

But as the lecturers have boycotted evaluation, the government has decided to take the help of lecturers from private PU colleges as well as high school teachers to evaluate the PU II answer scripts.

The department is confident it will get 11,000 evaluators, but the requirement is of 15,000. The pre-evaluation and evaluation process usually takes 12 days if around 10,000 to 15,000 evaluators participate, but now it is likely to take 20 days.

It has been 13 days of the government PU lecturers’s protest. Ajay Seth, Principal Secretary to the Department of Primary and Secondary Education, said during a press conference on Sunday, “The department has issued orders to 7,000 lecturers from private colleges and 4,000 high school teachers to report for evaluation duty.”

The government now hopes to start the evaluation process from Tuesday.

The Minister said the evaluators will have the necessary qualification and experience and students have no reason to worry. “Teachers would be asked to evaluate answer scripts of only those subjects that they teach and they would be given the question papers along with the model answers to help them evaluate the papers,” he said. He added that there would be a detailed briefing and video-conferences. The department is also thinking of using services of 4,000 retired PU lecturers for evaluation.
