They have only one exam -English to go, SSLC exams were scheduled to start on March 27, both have been postponed due to Covid-19 concerns. The new dates will be announced in April first week.
The decision was taken after a meeting with chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday morning, said primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar. Around 8.25 lakh students are to appear for the Class 10 exam.

“I appeal to SSLC students not to get frustrated. I know you’re fully prepared, fully geared up. But this is a peculiar situation which calls for hard decisions. The new timetable will be published very soon. Students should treat is as an extended study leave. Please revise more. Do not treat this as a relaxation time. You’ll have plenty of time to relax after the exams,” he said.
The government also postponed exams of classes 7- 9 and a decision will be taken after March 31.

KG Jagadeesh, commissioner, DPI, said the new dates will be announced with sufficient time for students to prepare.
Earlier in the day, the II PU exam was to be held as scheduled but by evening, the department decided to postpone it when concerns were raised about transportation facilities available for students.

“Thousands of students come to Karnataka from neighbouring states like Kerala, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. In order to avoid any risk, we had a rethink about conducting the exam on Monday. No single student should miss the exam or suffer. So we decided to postpone it. The new date will be announced after March 31,” Suresh Kumar said.

The Department of Public Instruction directed teaching and non-teaching staff of government-aided and unaided schools to Work from Home (WFH) till March 31. The PU education department announced holidays for all teaching and non-teaching staff of government, aided and unaided PU colleges till March 31.

The department were asked to fulfil their duties assigned as per a previous order (prepare timetables and schedules for the next academic year) during this WFH period. They have to prepare the necessary material needed for online teaching and valuation as well as develop a teaching programme for the next academic year.
The authorities have been asked to provide the necessary support to hostels and residential schools.
