SSLC exams from March 21, over 8.96 lakh students to write across Karnataka

The Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams for 2025 have officially commenced today, March 21, 2025. These exams, conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB), are a significant milestone for Class 10 students across the state. Here’s a detailed overview:

Exam Schedule and Timings

The SSLC exams will run from March 21 to April 4, 2025. The daily sessions are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM for most subjects. The exams begin with the first-language papers and conclude with National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) subjects. Here’s a breakdown of the timings:

  • First language, core subjects, and JTS subjects: 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM (3 hours for writing, 15 minutes for reading the question paper).
  • Second and third languages: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (2 hours 45 minutes for writing, 15 minutes for reading the question paper).

Special Provisions

To ensure inclusivity, special provisions have been made for differently-abled students. Extra time is allotted based on the duration of the question paper:

  • 60 minutes for 3-hour papers.
  • 50 minutes for 2-hour 30-minute papers.
  • 40 minutes for 2-hour papers.
  • 30 minutes for 1-hour 30-minute papers.

Admit Cards and Guidelines

The final admit cards were uploaded to the KSEAB website on March 10, 2025. School principals accessed these through the board’s portal and distributed them to students. It is mandatory for students to carry their admit cards to the examination centers, as entry will not be permitted without them.

Students are advised to arrive at their respective centers at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. They must bring necessary stationery such as pens, pencils, and erasers. Electronic devices, including mobile phones and smartwatches, are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.

Security and Vigilance

To ensure a smooth and fair examination process, several measures have been implemented:

  • Examination centers have been declared prohibited areas within a 200-meter radius.
  • Photocopy and cyber centers near the examination venues are instructed to remain closed.
  • Police personnel and vigilance teams are deployed at all centers, with additional security at sensitive locations.
  • Webcasting arrangements with CCTV cameras have been made in all examination rooms.

Importance of SSLC Exams

The SSLC exams are a crucial academic milestone for students, as they mark the culmination of secondary education and pave the way for higher studies. The results of these exams often play a significant role in determining students’ future academic and career paths.
