SSLC Paper not leaked: KSEEB Director

The education department has announced that none of the question papers for the SSLC exams has leaked. They claim to have checked the question paper packets to verify whether they were tampered or not. The exams are beginning from March 30.

Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) director Yashoda Bopanna said she along with commissioner for public instruction K Satyamurthy and other senior colleagues had visited Vijayapura district on Friday. “All paper bundles were intact with seals. This means the news of question paper leak is nothing but a rumour. However, we are sticking to our decision of suspending the Block Education Officer for dereliction of duty.”

Earlier, on Thursday, Muddebihal BEO NV Hosur was suspended for dereliction of duty. According to officials, it was the BEO’s duty to personally ensure that the question papers were safely transported to the treasury. However, the BEO had not taken due care while transporting the question papers from Vijayapura to Muddebihal as he left the van midway and entrusted the work to a nodal officer, which was breach of protocol. There have been allegations that when the question paper bundles reached Muddebihal, a few packets were already opened. However, KSEEB officials argued that they can assure that none of the question paper packets were opened and despite dereliction of duty by an official.

DC directs action

Speaking to media, Vijayapura deputy commissioner D Randeep said the question paper packets had reached his office and he had instructed the deputy director of public instruction and block education officers to ensure its transportation to sub-treasuries in their respective taluks and the process was on.

On Wednesday, he was told that some private persons were transporting the question paper to Muddebihal and he immediately asked the tahsildar to visit the spot and videograph sealing of the paper and safeguarding it in the sub-treasury.
