The new colleges will have an intake of 150 students each.
Sharana Prakash Patil -Medical education minister- told reporters here on Tuesday that the government had been trying its best for seeking approval from the MCI for admission of MBBS students from the 2014-15 academic year.
The PWD has begun the construction work, with Rs 29 crore spent on construction of each medical college building. About 70 % of the recruitment process has been completed and directors have been appointed for all the colleges.
Also, in the 2014-15 state budget, the government has proposed to establish medical colleges in Bagalkot, Haveri, Yadgir, Chitradurga, Tumkur and Chikkaballapur.
