UK’s University of Southampton invites applications for its newly launched MEng Aerospace Electronic Engineering programme
USPs of the programme: UK-based University of Southampton has launched a new MEng Aerospace Electronic Engineering programme that will commence from September 2017. Accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the programme is an expansion of their BEng Aerospace Electronic Engineering programme and will provide deep and insightful awareness about electronics used in aircraft and spacecraft. It will not only provide rigorous guidance on electronic engineering but also educate its learners on the fundamentals of aerospace engineering.
The University of Southampton is ranked amongst the top 51-100 universities for Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the 2016 QS World Rankings. They also lead in the UK for the volume and quality of Electrical and Electronic Engineering research. Moreover, the Guardian University Guide 2017 has listed the University as first in the UK for Electronics and Electrical Engineering, thus qualifying it to be anyone’s first choice for pursuing this programme.
The MEng Aerospace Electronic Engineering programme offers a wide range of multidisciplinary options directly related to aerospace and spacecraft systems. The flexible and ingenious modules have been structured to allow graduates customise their degree by selecting specialist options in the last two years of the programme. This will equip students with cutting-edge technology sought by industry and ensure that at the end of the programme, their skills are highly regarded by leading employers. The programme is accompanied by enthralling project work which prepares the students for any real company or to transfer technology from the University to industrial practice.
Course duration: 4 years as an integrated Masters
Career prospects for course graduates: The demand for skills in the sphere of electronics and avionics along with the initiation of applications for autonomous unmanned flying vehicles, the development of the ‘more electric aircrafts’ and increased usage of GPS to enhance the efficiency and safety of flights has opened up vast employment opportunities for the graduates of this course. They can pursue exciting careers in the aerospace industry, which may include the specialized areas of BAE Systems, Cobham, MBDA Missile Systems, Selex ES and much more.
Eligibility criteria: For Indian students taking state boards, the entry requirements for the BEng are 85% overall in Year 12 (AISSE/HSC/ISE/CBSE) including 85% in Maths and Physics and for the MEng 85% overall in Year 12 (AISSE/HSC/ISE/CBSE) including 90% and 85% in Maths and Physics. The English language requirements include an overall 6.5 IELTS score with 5.5 in each competency or ISC or CBSE English with 70%. Students over 21 years of age are also eligible for this course provided they supply evidence of pertinent academic background and their capacity to pursue the course.
Commencing from: September 2017
Course fee: £19,725
Scholarships: £1,000 for each A* (A Level), A* is equivalent to 90% with A being 85% depending on the board.
