#TechitLikeHer provides 100 female students from WileyNXT partner institutes and colleges in India with the opportunity to participate in the program’s job readiness Accelerator Program
John Wiley and Sons, Inc. (NYSE:JWA) (NYSE:JWB), a global leader in research and education, announced the Wiley #TechitLikeHer scholarship at the Wiley Innovation Global Conclave 2020 held in Bengaluru on February 5, 2020.
The scholarship, which provides placement in WileyNXT’s Accelerator Program, is aimed at encouraging female talent from the fields of engineering and technology. This scholarship has been designed to offer 100 female students from economically challenged backgrounds the opportunity to become equal opportunity participants in tech-led industries. The fourth-year engineering students from WileyNXT’s partner institutes and colleges across India, will be eligible for the scholarship and the chance to earn a seat for the three-month long WileyNXT Accelerator Program in Java Full Stack. Apart from the training program worth INR 50,000, each winner will also be eligible for a one-time stipend of INR 11,000.
Strengthening its vision to create a ‘best in class’ bridge education ecosystem to develop the workforce of the digital transformation era, WileyNXT will also award assured job placements to all the winners within its partner companies, with annual salaries ranging between 3-6 lakhs p.a.
Speaking on the #TechitLikeHer Scholarship announcement, Vikas Gupta, Managing Director, Wiley India, said, “As an organization, we believe in bringing the best talent forward. As domains, engineering and technology have seen a continuous decline in female talent and participation, both for education and employment choices. #TechitLikeHer is an endeavor to support a more gender diverse workforce and give female students the opportunity to develop job-ready skills with the WileyNXT Accelerator program. It is our hope that such opportunities and training ecosystem will attract more female talent to join the tech-led domains.”
Adding to the announcement, Jagriti Goyal, Marketing Head, WileyNXT, said, “The scholarship campaign name #TechitLikeHer is a wordplay on the phrase ‘Take it like a Man’, to suggest that women have proven their excellence in tech-led domains, and it should no longer be a segment dominated by men. We really wanted to capture the spirit of the programme and encourage more female students from our partner institutions to choose engineering and technology as future career fields.”
WileyNXT colleges and institutions can register their students for the scholarship on the #TechitLikeHer page on the WileyNXT website (https://www.wileynxt.com/tech-it-like-her) or mail at WileyNXTscholarships@wiley.com.
