Bengaluru, September 18, 2026: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has completed the final Round 2 seat allotment for NEET UG 2026, allotting 11,238 seats across MBBS and BDS programmes. The round included 8,772 MBBS seats and 2,466 BDS seats.

The final allotment result was released on September 16 through the KEA counselling portal. The process covers state-quota admissions to medical and dental programmes, with allotments determined by a candidate’s NEET merit, reservation eligibility, available seats and choices submitted during option entry.

The allotment of 8,772 MBBS seats is the largest share of the Round 2 outcome, while a further 2,466 candidates secured BDS seats. The total shows the scale of medical and dental admissions being processed by KEA in the second round.

Candidates can view their final allotment by signing in to the KEA UGNEET portal with their CET details and downloading the allotment order. The order states the allotted college and course.

Fee payment and reporting deadlines

Candidates accepting a Round 2 seat must complete fee payment by September 19, 2026. They must report to their allotted medical or dental college by September 21, 2026.

Applicants should complete both steps within the stipulated deadlines. Missing either deadline can result in cancellation of the allotted seat, which may then be returned to the vacancy pool for the next counselling round.

Students should carry the documents specified by KEA and their allotted institution when reporting. These generally include the NEET UG admit card and scorecard, Class 10 and Class 12 certificates, the KEA allotment order, fee-payment receipt, identity proof, photographs and applicable category, income, domicile, transfer or study certificates.

Seat surrender window for Round 3

KEA has also opened a window for candidates seeking to surrender an allotted MBBS or BDS seat. The facility is available from 4 pm on September 17 to 5 pm on September 20, 2026.

The authority opened the facility after candidates allotted seats in both Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and KEA counselling sought cancellation of their KEA allotments. Seats surrendered during this period are expected to be considered for Round 3 allotment, subject to the applicable counselling rules.

Candidates should be cautious before using the exit option. KEA’s rules prescribe cancellation penalties that vary according to the timing of surrender, and a late exit can affect eligibility for later rounds.

Four options after allotment

KEA permits allotted candidates to select one of four post-allotment options:

• Choice 1: Join the allotted college and exit the counselling process.
• Choice 2: Keep trying for a better seat in later rounds instead of accepting the current allotment.
• Choice 3: Accept the current seat while also seeking an upgrade in a later round.
• Choice 4: Reject the allotted seat and exit the counselling process.

Candidates should compare their present allotment with their realistic prospects in Round 3 before choosing to surrender a seat or seek an upgrade. KEA is expected to publish the revised vacancy position and seat matrix for the next round after the surrender process.
