NMMS Results Announced: State-Wise Scholarship Outcomes for Class 8 Students Unveiled

April 1, 2025 – The much-anticipated results of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) examination for the 2024-25 academic year have begun rolling out across India, bringing excitement and relief to thousands of Class 8 students and their families. Administered by the State Councils of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs) in each state, the NMMS scheme aims to provide financial support to meritorious students from economically weaker sections, ensuring they can continue their education beyond the eighth grade. As of today, several states have officially released their results, with others expected to follow in the coming weeks.

A Nationwide Initiative for Educational Equity

The NMMS, a centrally sponsored scholarship program under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, awards Rs. 12,000 annually (Rs. 1,000 per month) to selected students from Class 9 through Class 12. The scholarship targets students whose parental income does not exceed Rs. 3.5 lakh per annum, offering a lifeline to those at risk of dropping out due to financial constraints. Each year, approximately one lakh scholarships are distributed nationwide, with state-wise quotas varying based on population and educational metrics.

The 2024-25 NMMS examination, conducted between November and December 2024, tested students in two key areas: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). To qualify, students needed to secure at least 40% in each section (32% for SC/ST candidates), alongside meeting academic criteria from their Class 7 performance.
