New Delhi, October 8, 2026: Schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are currently preparing and submitting the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations 2026–27. The LOC process is an important step ahead of the CBSE Board Examinations 2027, as only students whose details are duly submitted by their schools through the prescribed process will be eligible to appear for the corresponding board examinations.

CBSE opened the regular LOC submission window on September 24, 2026, and schools can submit the details without a late fee until October 21, 2026

For the 2027 Board Examinations, the LOC schedule is as follows:

LOC submission with late feeOctober 22–30, 2026
Late fee₹2,000 per candidate in addition to regular examination fee

CBSE has stated that schools should complete the process within the prescribed schedule and ensure that candidate information is accurate.

What Is the List of Candidates (LOC)?

The List of Candidates (LOC) is the official list submitted by a CBSE-affiliated school containing details of students who are appearing for the board examinations.

The school submits information including the student’s personal details, date of birth, parents’ or guardians’ names, category and subjects being taken for the examination.

The LOC is submitted by the school, rather than directly by individual students or parents.

Class 10 and Class 12 Students Covered

The current LOC process covers students appearing for the Class 10 and Class 12 main examinations of the 2026–27 academic session.

For Class 10, the LOC being submitted now relates to the first Board Examination under CBSE’s two-examination policy. The LOC for the second Class 10 Board Examination will be submitted separately after the first examination.

CBSE’s two-board-examination system gives Class 10 students an additional opportunity to improve their performance, with the second examination conducted separately.

CBSE Board Exam 2027 Fee

For schools in India, the regular examination fee for five subjects is ₹1,600 per candidate.

Additional subjects attract a fee of ₹320 per subject. For Class 12 students, the practical examination fee is ₹160 per practical subject. Different fee structures apply to schools in Nepal and other countries.

Students with applicable exemptions, including eligible visually impaired candidates, are subject to the provisions specified by CBSE.

Schools Must Verify Student Details Carefully

CBSE has repeatedly advised schools to exercise particular care while submitting LOC data. Incorrect information can create problems later with examination documents, question papers, results and certificates.

Schools should therefore verify:

  • Student’s full name
  • Date of birth
  • Father’s/mother’s/guardian’s name
  • Gender
  • Category, wherever applicable
  • Subjects and subject codes
  • Subject combinations
  • Student photograph and other required information
  • CWSN status, wherever applicable

This is particularly important for Class 12 students because subject combinations and practical subjects have to correspond with the CBSE-approved scheme of studies.

Students and Parents Should Check Their Details

Although the LOC is submitted by schools, students and parents should not assume that the information entered by the school is automatically correct.

Students appearing for CBSE Board Exams 2027 should contact their school and verify their name, date of birth, parent details and subjects well before the LOC deadline.

Any discrepancy should be brought to the school’s attention immediately rather than waiting until the admit card or result stage.

CBSE had specifically warned in its earlier communications about incorrect student details and subject information being submitted during the registration and LOC process.

Late Submission Window Available

Schools that miss the October 21 deadline can submit the LOC during the late-fee period from October 22 to October 30, 2026.

A late fee of ₹2,000 per candidate, in addition to the applicable examination fee, will be charged. CBSE has indicated that the prescribed deadlines should be followed strictly.

When Will CBSE Board Exams 2027 Be Held?

CBSE has not yet released the complete Class 10 and Class 12 2027 date sheet. The LOC process is, however, an important preparatory step for the examinations.

Schools and students should rely on the official CBSE website for the final date sheet and other examination announcements rather than dates circulating on social media or unofficial education websites. CBSE’s examination circular page is currently listing the 2026–27 LOC notification among its latest examination notices.

What Students Should Do Now

With the regular LOC deadline approaching, students should:

  1. Confirm their name spelling with the school.
  2. Check their date of birth.
  3. Verify parent/guardian details.
  4. Confirm the subjects and subject codes entered by the school.
  5. Class 12 students should pay particular attention to their subject combinations and practical subjects.
  6. Inform the school immediately if any information is incorrect.
  7. Keep checking the school’s notices and CBSE announcements for further updates.

CBSE Board Exams 2027: Key Takeaway

The October 21, 2026 deadline is important for CBSE schools preparing candidates for the 2027 Board Examinations. While students do not directly submit the LOC, they have an important role in ensuring that the information maintained by their school is accurate.

Schools should complete the submission well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical or data-related problems.

For the latest official notifications, schools and students should regularly check the CBSE examination circulars.
