Classes for 2026–27 first-semester students commence on August 31; university welcomes a new batch of undergraduate students

Kalaburagi, August 31, 2026: The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) has commenced classes for its newly admitted undergraduate students for the 2026–27 academic year from today, August 31.

The university had officially announced on August 14 that classes for the UG First Semester 2026–27 batch would begin on August 31, marking the start of a new academic journey for students admitted to various undergraduate programmes.

New Academic Journey Begins

The commencement of the first semester marks an important milestone for students joining CUK after completing their school education. Students are expected to begin regular academic activities across their respective departments from today.

The university, located at Kadaganchi in Kalaburagi district, offers undergraduate programmes across several disciplines, providing students with opportunities to pursue programmes in humanities, social sciences, sciences, management, law and engineering.

Among the UG programmes listed for the 2026–27 admission cycle are B.A. LL.B., B.A. Economics, B.A. English, B.A. History and Archaeology, BBA, BSW, B.Sc. programmes and several B.Tech programmes, including Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML), Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing.

CUET-Based Admissions for 2026–27

Admissions to the university’s undergraduate programmes for 2026–27 have been conducted through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG).

CUK released multiple provisional merit lists during August, including its fourth provisional merit list on August 24. The university subsequently conducted online open counselling for UG programmes, with provisional open-counselling merit lists issued on August 27 for several programmes.

The university’s current UG admissions page lists the 2026–27 application cycle as closed, while merit-list and admission-related announcements continue to be available for students.

Students Begin Campus Life

For newly admitted students, the start of classes also marks the beginning of campus life at one of India’s Central Universities.

Students are expected to become familiar with their departments, academic schedules, libraries, laboratories, hostels and other campus facilities as they settle into university life.
